Thanks for the video comparing these two options. I'm looking at both of these options for my business. Thoughts on what would be best for a small bakery/sandwich shop? One of my concerns is all of our different modifiers that we have for our sandwiches. I need a menu that is simple and flows easy. An online ordering website, food delivery integration and an easy to use loyalty program were items that are driving me to make a POS change.

This is a great overview for the most part. However it’s wrong to say that square might not be a good fit for folks that are doing 250k more, this may have been the case in 2015, but come on… I mean Square processes millions of dollars for publicly traded companies and it’s pos solutions are really good for single and multi-location businesses that are doing 5-10m+ on a per locations basis.

I'm hoping you can help. I am wanting to personalize my background videos for a fee. I need a platform for ordering, accepting payment etc. I also need a way to transfer the files to customers which will be 30 minute downloadable video files. Do you have a recommendation on any of these services? I did try to set up a shop on Shopify at one point. I found it entirely complicated but I know it gets a lot of use. Is it me or do others tend to find Shopify difficult to navigate? I think the biggest hurdle is transfer of files. It would be a dream if one service did it all. Any input would be super helpful...

So unfortunately parts of this are no longer valid, they did an update that made adding Team Members way worse. Now you have to add them with a bunch of extra permissions and PIN numbers for the POS and Time Cards even if you aren't using them, plus they have access to other info you might not want, and only then can you say if someone is a W2 or 1099. Then at the end you can remove all those permissions but it gives you a message that your team member isn't complete. Clearly the people who ordered these changes don't actually use it, because it's way worse now than it was in this video.

Square steals. We are a new business about to launch literally in two months. We opened a Square banking and wanted to use it for all of our business banking needs, because of its perceived ease of use and options, how it was explained to us on the phone before. How wrong were we... Yesterday we wanted to transfer OUR (not Square transaction generated money) into our account, immediately we encountered a bit of a problem and my partner, thank god, decided to just transfer $5 to test. That went through. Then we decided to transfer more and we were greeted with a big stop sign screen, and then an email that our account is in review. This is fine, happens all the time. Today I call and a lady on the other end says not to worry and that the account will be unblocked within a few hours. An hour later we get an email stating that our account is deactivated and that they will hold the money that we have there for 90! days. Thank god it was only $5, I cannot even fathom what would we do if we transferred more. Most likely it would bury the business since it is very time sensitive and on a tight schedule. So I call again, and the guy tells me that it is over, my account is done, they essentially stole that $5 (LOL), and, by the way, he would appreciate if we would cancel the banking account with them right now. Amazing! I wonder how other companies do business with them if they can arbitrarily hold the funds for the fun of it, how can you operate and rely on someone like that to handle your money. And again, it was our money, not transaction generated money. Do not use them guys, nightmare fuel. #square
